This means that you silence your cell phones and other noise making devices. This also means that no children below the 5th grade will be permitted in the regular services of the church. And no food will be permitted in the sanctuary. If you need to be able to answer an emergency or on-call situation, you are welcome to set your phone to the vibrate mode and take the call in the foyer if need be.

If you feel uncomfortable placing your children into children’s ministry, you are welcome to sit with your family and watch the service from the Foyer, the Family Room, or the Fellowship Hall (on Sunday mornings). We do ask that if you use one of these spaces to view the service that you maintain supervision of your children at all times and in a manner that is not a disruption to others also using these spaces.

Children in the 5th-8th grades will have the option of attending children’s ministry or participating with the adults in the regular service. We do ask that if a child of this age is attending service with the adults that they remain in the service for its entirety. They will not be permitted to go to children’s ministry mid-way through the service. We also ask if a child of this age is attending service in the sanctuary that they sit with a parent or guardian throughout the entirety of the service. Please know that we will be handling topics at an adult comprehension and maturity level, so parents or guardians may have to answer some questions following the service to clarify what is being taught. Also be aware of the fact that children attending the adult service are going to be treated as adults, being held to the same standard of behavior and decorum as adults are. We expect a parent or guardian to communicate these expectations to their children. However, if they fail to do so, our ushers will communicate with them directly as they would with any other adult.

At no time will food be permitted in the sanctuary. If you have a medical need for food, please communicate with the ushers and we will come to an agreement that suits the needs of all impacted by this need.

And if a situation or need arises that requires a compromise of these practices, please bring it to the attention of the elders of the church. These are not merely rules to be followed, but are guidelines to help us accomplish the objective of hearing from, speaking to, seeing and remembering God Himself through Jesus Christ. If you have another way to accomplish that objective that we have not yet considered, please bring it to our attention.

Therefore, it can be helpful to know what these things mean and how we organize the church around them.

Apostles’ doctrine. This is the expository and didactic teaching of the Scriptures. We believe through the teaching of God’s Word that God speaks to us directly and personally, and by His Word the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus Christ to us.

Fellowship. This is when the members of the church personally relate with one another over the person and work of Jesus in their lives. In fellowship, we should be able to see what Jesus is presently accomplishing in and through the Body of Christ left on earth to do His will.

Breaking of bread. This is referring to Communion which is the ordinance Jesus gave us to focus on the core of the Christian faith, the broken body and poured out blood of Jesus on the cross. In Communion, we are able to see what Jesus did for us nearly 2,000 years ago.

Prayers. Prayer takes place individually as people simply approach God with their hearts. Prayer also takes place corporately in the church in prayer meetings, home fellowships, and in spontaneous times of prayer. The most common form of prayer in the large group meetings is during the worship portion of our services. In prayer we are speaking directly to God.
